Due to construction at UCSF (505 Parnassus) starting Monday, May 8th there will be necessary changes to the pickup process at Moffitt Circle. Vehicles entering Moffitt circle will not be able to park, and will only be allowed for loading/unloading so alternate parking options will be made available. It is anticipated that this change will be in place until December, 2023.
Around the corner on Hillway, there will be 2 designated auxiliary parking spots. When entering the lot, proceed to your right. The spots will be identified with signage at the end of the lane (see photos below). When not able to quickly load or unload patients’ providers must park here and then walk their gurney or wheelchair up to the floor your patient is on.
- For Wheelchair patients you will be able to leave the patient in the lobby near the discharge lounge, then proceed to pick up your vehicle and bring it to Moffitt Circle. From there you will then be able to park briefly, get your patient in the lobby, and then load them into your vehicle.
- For gurney patients, one transport provider staff member will stay with the patient in the lobby near the discharge lounge, then the other will proceed to pick up your vehicle and bring it to Moffitt Circle. From there you will then be able to park briefly and load your patient into the vehicle.
- Traffic Ambassadors will be staffing the Moffitt Circle to help with traffic flow, enforcement and to provide directions as needed.
Unfortunately, the parking garage is not an option due to the height restrictions, and the ambulance parking bay will also be impacted by this construction and not available for use by wheelchair/gurney providers. Please instruct your staff to not use these locations.
Below is a map showing the parking location (circle), and then the drive path from the auxiliary parking spaces to Moffitt circle. Since you can only make a right hand turn into Moffitt circle from Parnassus, you will have to utilize this alternate route.
Thank you for your understanding in this process, and adaptability to the temporary process change. Please only occupy the two designated parking spots during a scheduled pickup.
