The Onward app can be launched from Epic in two primary ways, from within a patient’s chart and outside of a patient’s chart.
There are two key differences between the launch locations:
- When launching the Onward app from a patient’s chart, a user will be taken directly to a patient’s “Rider Profile” in Onward, where transportation can be scheduled directly for that particular patient.
- When launching the Onward app outside of a patient’s chart, users will be taken to the upcoming rides page where you can check the status of previously scheduled trips, or click Book Transportation to book a new ride.
How to launch Onward from within a patient’s chart
- Click the Onward link from the patient’s chart.
- The app will launch in a separate window directly from the patient chart. It will default to the rides tab within a patient’s “Rider” profile. Users will see the upcoming and previous rides for a patient, and have the ability to book additional transportation.
Note: Patient specific fields will only pre-populate when the app is launched from a patient record.
How to launch Onward outside of a patient’s chart
When launching the Onward app outside of a patient’s chart, click the Onward link to view the upcoming rides page where you can check the status of previously scheduled trips, or click Book Transportation to book a new ride.
Note: Users will see an organization wide view of all upcoming and completed rides.
Note: The options for where this launch button can exist are part of implementation, and setup is configured per account)
