Absolutely. Our process for vetting and onboarding a Companion Driver is:
Step 1: Personal Vetting
Evaluating candidate fit is a top priority. The assisted nature of Companion Rides means that an elevated degree of empathy is required to do the job well. A prospective Companion Driver's desire to help others is evaluated during the interview process in addition to their prior work experience.
Step 2: Vehicle inspection, and background checks
Each vehicle must pass our 19 point vehicle inspection and certification to be authorized to transport riders. All Companion Drivers must undergo a comprehensive background and driving record check.
Step 3: Training
All drivers are trained and onboarded work with Onward's typical rider. Each Companion Driver is CPR and First aid certified and learns proper wheelchair /walker storage and transfer, communication with seniors, Dementia training, and more.
